Unlocking the Nokia Astound from T-Mobile should be possible when it’s released. The Nokia Astound is a new GSM smartphone from T-Mobile and was announced in March 2011. The current Nokia Astound specifications show that the smartphone will work on GSM 850, 900, 1800, and 1900 bands, as well as 3G. Since the device is a GSM device, this means it will work on a SIM card. Furthermore, many modern cell phones come with a SIM lock that prevents them from working with any SIM card besides the initial carrier. In this case, the Nokia Astound may only work with T-Mobile. If you ever wanted to use your Astound with AT&T or another SIM card carrier, then you would not be able to do this, until you unlock it. Currently, the release date of the Nokia Astound is pending so we do not know for sure yet, whether the device will come, locked, but it is very likely as we have seen most of the time in the past. You will first need to get an unlock code for your Nokia Astound. In order to get this special code, you will need to find your cell phones unique IMEI number. This number is basically an identification number for your cell phone and it is unique to every phone. You will need your IMEI number to calculate the unlock code, that will only work for your phone (This is important you do not use someone else’s, as it will not work and could lock your phone). You can easily get your IMEI number simply by typing *#06# and hitting enter on your phone. This should actually work with any GSM or SIM card mobile device. Next, to get your actual unlock code, I first reccomend you try calling up your current phone carrier (T-Mobile) and request an unlock code. They will sometimes give you one for free, but not always. If you cannot get a free T-Mobile unlock code, then you can use one of the unlock code websites listed below as they support almost all SIM based Nokia cell phones.

How to Unlock a Nokia Astound from T-Mobile
1. Power ON your Nokia mobile phone without your SIM card.
2. Now type: #PW+CODE+1# (Where CODE is your Nokia unlock code)
3. Your phone should now show “SIM Restriction Off” and is unlocked.
Note: You must press the * key several times to get the characters for ‘P’ and ‘W’.
